Men's Golf Moves up to 5th at Williams Invitational

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – A strong charge on the final day of the Williams Invitational moved the Johnson & Wales University men's golf team into the top five. The Wildcats cut 11 strokes on Sunday to finish fifth at the Taconic Golf Course.

The Wildcats put together rounds of 312 and 301 (613) to tie Babson. The host Ephs won the event at 588.

Junior Alex Parente led the way, slicing four strokes off his first round to come in seventh at 150 (77-73). Also cracking the top 20 was sophomore Claudio Soukamneuth with a 153 (75-78) to take 16th.

No player in the tournament improved more from Saturday to Sunday than Matt Daley, who dropped 16 strokes in round two for a 158 (87-71). He was tied with Mac Patch, who carded rounds of 78 and 80. Ryan Malloy was three strokes better in the final 18 holes for a 161 (82-79).

JWU gets back on the course next weekend at the Farmingdale State College Invitational.
