Men’s Golf 8th After First Day of Williams Invitational


WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Johnson & Wales University men's golf team is in the hunt for its second top-five finish in a row. The Wildcats are in eighth place after the first day of the Williams Invitational at the Taconic Golf Club.

JWU started the event with a first-round score of 312. The Wildcats are three shots back of Trinity and only five out of fifth place. The hosts Ephs lead after day one at 296.

A trio of Wildcats were in the 70s, led by sophomore Claudio Soukamneuth's 75, which has him tied for eighth. Two shots back in 25th is junior Alex Parente after an opening 77.

Mac Patch was the third player under 80 with his 78. Ryan Malloy posted an 82 and Matt Daley added an 87.

The final round commences at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
