Men’s Golf Takes Seventh at Wildcat Spring Invitational

CRANSTON, RI – The Johnson & Wales University men's golf team cut eight strokes off its opening round to take seventh at the Wildcat Spring Invitational at Cranston Country Club. JWU fired its lowest round of the spring with a 313 for a two-day total of 638 (325-313).

Husson shot 293 on the final day to win the tournament with a score of 602 (309-293). The Eagles defeated Western New England by 12 strokes. John Abbott from WNEU shot back-to-back 73s to win medalist honors by three strokes.

Leading the way was freshman Claudio Soukamneuth who shot the second-lowest round of the tournament with a 72 for a two-day total of 150 (78-72) to take fourth. Sophomore Alex Parente carded a 160 (78-82). Classmate Christian Maselli cut eight strokes off his Saturday round for a 162 (85-77). Matt Daley at 166 (84-82) and Ryan Malloy with a 171 (87-84) rounded out the JWU scores.

Competing as an individual, Hunter DiLorenzo fired a 158 (79-79) to take 21st. Adam Ely had a 176 (89-87).

Johnson & Wales is on the road Thursday to take on Salem State and Babson in a tri-match at Wellesley Country Club.
