Men’s Golf Tees it Up at NEIGA Championship

BREWSTER, Mass. – The best collegiate men's golf teams in region teed it up on Sunday at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championship. After day one at the Captains Course, the Wildcats are tied for 14th with an opening 331.

Johnson & Wales is tied with Rhode Island College and only three strokes from cracking the top 10. Nichols has the first round lead with an 18-hole total of 307.

Leading JWU on the first day was rookie Alex Parente (North Kingston, RI) with an opening 80. Just a stroke back as senior Jon Nelson (Pembroke, Mass.). Freshman Christian Maselli (Exeter, RI) produced an 83 in his first 18 holes. Rounding out the JWU was scoring was senior Alan Ferrara (Pawtucket, RI) at 87 and senior Alec Carew (Jericho, Vt.) fired an 88.

The Wildcats are back on the course Monday for the final 18 holes.
