NEW LONDON, NH – The Johnson & Wales University men's basketball team made a valiant effort, but came up short at Colby-Sawyer College on Saturday. The Wildcats dropped a 71-63 contest to the Chargers.
Colby-Sawyer: 7-9, 1-2 GNAC
Johnson & Wales: 9-9, 1-3 GNAC
Brian Hogan-Gary (JWU): 20 points, 12 rebounds
Nate Patenaude (JWU): 14 points, 9 rebounds
Justin Bullock (JWU): 12 points, 4 assists
Nate Patenaude canned a three-pointer with under two minutes left in the second half to pull the Wildcats within 63-61. JWU could not convert on the offensive end and the Chargers went 6-of-6 from the free throw line to seal the victory.
Over a quarter of Colby-Sawyer's points came off Johnson & Wales' 19 turnovers.
Recording his third double-double in a row was Brian Hogan-Gary with game-highs of 20 points and 12 rebounds. Patenaude just missed his own double-double with 14 points and nine boards.
The Wildcats get back on the court Wednesday to face Suffolk at 7:30 p.m.
