PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Unlike its last trip across town to face Rhode Island College, the Johnson & Wales University men's basketball team didn't have as much luck at NCAA Division I Brown University on Tuesday. The Wildcats lost a 79-53 decision to the Bears
The Wildcats couldn't find their offensive rhythm in the opening half as the Bears raced out to a 16-0 lead. Rookie Chris Lugo got the Wildcats on the board with a three-pointer at the 13:37 mark.
JWU cut the lead to 49-29 on a Justin Bullock three-pointer five minutes into the second half. Hogan-Gary converted a three-point play at the 7:21 mark to get the lead down 66-45, but that's as close as the Wildcats would get the rest of the night.
The Wildcats could not compete on the inside against the Bears as they had 48 points in the paint. The Bears limited the Wildcats to 31.8 percent shooting while shooting 56.2 percent themselves.
Leading all scorers was Hogan-Gary as he accounted for over 50 percent of JWU's scoring with 31 points. It's his third-straight game with 30 or more points.
Johnson & Wales starts conference action Saturday when it hosts Regis at 3 p.m.
