HUNTINGDON, Pa. – A dominating first half led the Johnson & Wales University men's basketball team to victory in the Doc Green Tournament. The Wildcats defeated tournament host Juniata College, 67-52, on Saturday.
Johnson & Wales wasted little time in jumping out to the lead. Bullock knocked down a pair of free throws to give JWU a 12-2 advantage just five minutes into the opening half. Another Bullock free throw five minutes later pushed the lead to 24-7 and the Wildcats took a 37-20 advantage into the locker room.
Hogan-Gary scored the first 12 JWU points in the second half on his way to 18 second-half points. His layup at the 8:08 mark pushed the lead to 22 points.
The 30 points is a season-high for Hogan-Gary and he also grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds for his second-straight double-double. Bullock was next with 11 points while rookie Aireus Raspberry added 10 points.
JWU shot 24-of-48 (50 percent) from the floor while limiting the Eagles to 37 percent, including 7-of-25 (28 percent) in the first half. The Wildcats force Juniata into 18 turnovers, the most by a JWU opponent this season.
The Wildcats have one more game before the holiday break as they travel across town to face Rhode Island College at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
