WINTHROP, Mass. – As the Johnson & Wales University men's basketball team was trying to secure a home game in the GNAC Tournament, junior Brian Hogan-Gary rose to the occasion. For the third week in a row, he was named GNAC Player of the Week.
The sixth awards this season by the Staten Island, NY native is the most ever by a Wildcat. Albertus Magnus' Davon Warner was named Rookie of the Week.
In a 1-1 week, Hogan-Gary averaged 23.0 points, 15.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists while recording his fifth and sixth double-doubles in a row. He ranks eighth in the NCAA with 15 double-doubles and 17th at 23.5 ppg.
He had 27 points, a career-high 19 rebounds and three assists in an 89-85 loss at GNAC top seed Albertus Magnus. Hogan-Gary finished the week with 19 points, 12 boards and five assists in a crucial 75-71 road win at Emmanuel. The victory gave JWU the third seed for the upcoming GNAC Tournament.
Johnson & Wales opens the postseason Tuesday against Saint Joseph's (Me.) at 7 p.m.
