Cardinals Pull Away From Wildcats in Second Half for 75-47 Win

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Johnson & Wales University men's basketball team took an early lead in the second half, but host Wesleyan University was too much for the Wildcats the rest of the way. The Cardinals defeated the Wildcats, 75-47, on Thursday.

Wesleyan: 4-3
Johnson  &  Wales: 3-4

Bryan Davis (JWU): 9 points, 5 rebounds
Brian Hogan-Gary (JWU): 8 points, 9 rebounds

Of Note:
Wesleyan built a 16-7 lead at the 8:03 mark of the first half. Danny Ampofo scored all six of his first-half points in the final three minutes to cut the margin to 25-21 at the half.

A Matt Madoian jumper put the Wildcats up 28-27 then a three-pointer cut Wesleyan's lead to 40-32 five minutes into the second half. Unfortunately, the Wildcats didn't score for the next six minutes as the Cardinals went on a 17-0 run.

Johnson & Wales struggled to keep up with the Cardinals inside. Wesleyan had a 55-24 rebounding margin as well as 38-10 lead for points in the paint.

Brian Hogan-Gary just missed his third double-double in a row with eight points and nine rebounds. Bryan Davis and Madoian scored a team-high nine points.
