Late Surge Gives Wildcats 75-66 Win Over Brooklyn

BUFFALO, NY -  The Johnson & Wales University men's basketball team took control in the final three minutes on its way to victory on Saturday. The Wildcats defeated Brooklyn College, 75-66, on day two of the Coles Classic, hosted by Buffalo State.

Brooklyn: 2-1
Johnson  &  Wales: 2-2

Statistical Leaders:
Randall Ferdinand (JWU): 17 points, 13 rebounds
Brian Hogan-Gary (JWU): 20 points, 5 rebounds

Of Note:
A Jeremiah Price free throw with 4:24 left in the first half gave the Wildcats a 34-29 lead. JWU would not score the rest of the half as the two teams went into the locker room tied 34-34.

Two minutes into the second half, the Wildcats built the lead back up to eight, 42-34, on a Brian Hogan-Gary layup. The Bulldogs fought back and took their first lead, 54-52, on a Jordan Wright three-pointer with 8:43 to go.

A Hogan-Gary dunk at the 3:04 mark sparked a 6-0 Wildcats run. Matt Madoian made four free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.

Johnson & Wales overcame 10 Bulldog three-pointers by shooting 50 percent (28-56) from the floor. JWU also had a 48-35 rebounding advantage.

Producing his second double-double in as many days was Randall Ferdinand with 17 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Hogan-Gary, who was named to the all-tournament team, had a game-high 20 points to go along with five steals and seven rebounds.
