Wildcats Stop Cadets 91-54
PROVIDENCE, RI – It took over a month, but the Norwich University and Johnson & Wales University men's basketball teams finally met on the court. In a game that was twice postponed due to inclement weather, the Wildcats prevailed 91-54 on Sunday.

Norwich: 7-15, 4-11 GNAC
Johnson & Wales: 13-9, 13-3 GNAC

Statistical Leaders:
Anthony Jernigan (JWU): 17 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds
Edson Dascy (JWU): 20 points, 6 rebounds
Jarell Lawson (JWU): 18 points, 8 rebounds

Of Note:
A Mike Hogervorst put back pulled the Cadets within 15-14 at the 12:36 mark, but the Wildcats limited Norwich to one basket over the next 10 minutes. A Jarell Lawson (Providence, RI) layup capped a 23-3 run to give the Wildcats a 38-17 advantage. The lead grew to as many as 40 in the second half.

The Wildcats had four players reach double figures, led by Edson Dascy (Fall River, Mass.) with a career-high 20 points. Lawson was next at 18 points and a game-high eight rebounds. Even though he was held below his scoring average, Anthony Jernigan (East Hartford, Conn.) handed out seven assists to go along with 17 points and five rebounds.

Johnson & Wales' defense caused problems for the Cadets as JWU forced 18 Norwich turnovers, which resulted in 25 points for the hosts. The Wildcats were also able to get the ball inside, holding a 40-28 margin for points in the paint. The Wildcat shot 55.2 percent, their second-best rate of the season.

Leading the Cadets with 10 points was Darius Bryant. He also snared a team-high six rebounds. Joe Fitzgerald was next at eight points.  Norwich shot 43.8 percent from the floor but were only 3-15 from 3-point range.

The two teams are back on the court Tuesday when the Wildcats travel to Norwich for a 7 p.m. contest.
