Providence, RI - It was a learning experience Saturday night for the Johnson & Wales University men's basketball team.  The Wildcats went across town to take on Division I Brown, but came away with an 89-59 defeat.

The loss dropped JWU to 2-5 while the Bears improved to 7-5.

Sophomore Matt Madoian (North Kingstown, RI) hit a three pointer at the 16:09 mark of the first half to pull JWU within 7-5. Unfortunately, the Wildcats wouldn't score for another six minutes and Brown built a 20-5 lead. The uBears went into the locker room with a 53-21 advantage.

Three Wildcats reached double figures, led by 15 from Randall Ferdinand (Penbroke Pines, Fla.). Madoian was next with 13, as was Edson Dascy (Fall River, Mass.) as the 13 points marks a career-high as well as his six rebounds.

Brown had the advantage behind the three-point line, hitting 14 three balls compared to nine by JWU. At the charity stripe the Bears were 19-of-26 from the line while the Wildcats were only 2-of-2

JWU goes on the road December 19-20 for the Russ DeVette/Holland Sentinel Classic, hosted by Hope College.
