Men’s Basketball Stumbles in GNAC Opener at Lasell

NEWTON, Mass. – For the first 20 minutes, the Johnson & Wales University men's basketball team hung in with Lasell, but the Lasers were too much in the second half. The Wildcats dropped their GNAC opener, 86-58, on Tuesday.

Michael Kiser: 15 points, 5 rebounds

Of Note:
A three-pointer by Jarell Lawson (Providence, RI) pulled the Wildcats within one, 28-27, with 5:15 remaining in the first half. Lasell went on a 14-5 run to go into the locker room with a 41-32 advantage. A 10-3 Lasers run to start the second half put the game out of reach.

The Lasers had a big margin in rebounding (50-36) and also had an advantage at the free throw line. Lasell was 23-of-31 from the charity stripe, compared to 5-of-8 by the Wildcats.

Junior Michael Kiser (Pike Road, Ala.) was one point off his career-high with a team-best 15 points and added five rebounds. Lawson was next at 13 points.

Freshman Demani Spence (New York, NY) posted a team-high seven rebounds. Edson Dascy (Fall River, Mass.) came off the bench to score a personal-best eight points.
