STANDISH, Maine – The Johnson & Wales field hockey team falls to St Joseph's College of Maine on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats defense held strong until the Monks scored three goals in the third quarter to secure the victory, 3-0.
Johnson & Wales: 6-11, 4-3 GNAC
St. Joe's: 13-3, 7-0 GNAC
The first half was a defensive battle between both teams. The Wildcats had a penalty corner early in the first quarter but were unsuccessful.
St Joe's broke through in the third period scoring three goals to separate themselves for the victory. The game-winning goal was scored 3:11 after the halftime break.
The Monks outshot the Wildcats, 30-2, also holding the lead in penalty corners 18-3
The Wildcats return home for their regular season finale, Wednesday, October 30 at 5:30 p.m. to face the Regis College Pride.
