NEW HAVEN, C.T. – The field hockey team had a breakout performance against Albertus Magnus on Wednesday. A pair of goals in the first quarter of the game set the tone, and a pair in the fourth secured the 4-0 win.
Johnson & Wales: 6-10 (4-2)
Albertus Magnus: 1-11 (0-7)
The Wildcats got on the board first with Kerrianne Fagan scoring off a pass from Natalie Rivas in the sixth minute of the game, Fagan's first goal of the season. The offensive pressure persisted and paid off as McKayla Weaver found the back of the net in the 14thminute of the game, her goal was assisted by Jillian Miele.
The Wildcats outshot the Falcons, 22-5. Wildcat goalkeeper Madison Flaxington turned away all three shots she faced to get her first collegiate shut out.
The Wildcats will travel to Maine, Saturday, October 26 at 3:00 p.m. to face the Saint Joseph's Monks.
