Field Hockey Drops 9-1 Decision Against Salve Regina

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. – In a cloudy crosstown match up, the field hockey team faced Salve Regina University. Unfortunately early goals from the Seahawks were too much to comeback from as the Wildcats fell 7-1. 

Statistical Leaders:
Eliza Timms (SRU) 4 goals 1 assist
Ashley Cody (SRU) 2 goals 3 assists

Johnson & Wales: 4-10
Salve Regina: 9-4

Of Note: 
The Seahawks got an early lead with a score in the second minute of the game, with the first of four goals from Eliza Timms. The Seahawks scored two more in the first quarter to take the lead 3-0. 

The Seahawks did not relent, adding two goals in the second quarter, two in the third, and two in the forth. The Wildcats lone goal was scored by Mackenzie Wolf in the fourth quarter.  

The Seahawks led in shots 13-23. Goalkeeper Madison Flaxington faced 12 shots and turned away seven, and Grace Pendergast faced five and turned away one. The Wildcats out cornered the Seahawks, 15-14.

The Wildcats return to play Saturday October 19 at 1 p.m. against Rivier College. Johnson & Wales will be celebrating Family Weekend in addition to Senior day.
