Field Hockey Falls to New England College 6-1

HENNIKER, NH – Under grey skies, the Johnson & Wales University field hockey team faced non-conference opponent New England College. Unfortunately, a barrage of goals from the Pilgrims was too much to come back from as the Wildcats fell 6-1.

Of Note:
The Pilgrims got an early lead with a score in the tenth minute of the first quarter from Brittney Tierney, she would go on to score two goals. The Wildcats limited the Pilgrims to one goal in the first quarter, and one in the second quarter, leaving the score 2-0 at half. However, a plethora of shots in the third and fourth was too much for the Wildcats defense ending in a 6-1 result.

First-year Catey Crain got her first collegiate goal in the 49th minute of the game. Her goal was assisted by Jillian Miele.

The Pilgrims outshot the Wildcats, 24-22. Senior goalkeeper Grace Pendergast made 6 saves before she was relieved by first-year, Madison Flaxington, who added 1 save.
