Field Hockey Continues Success in the Classroom

GILBERT, Ariz. – The Johnson & Wales University field hockey team continues to excel on the field and in the classroom. The Wildcats were recently recognized for their academic accomplishments by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

It's the fifth year in a row that the program has earned a Zag Field Hockey / NFHCA Division III National Academic Team Award for carrying at least a 3.0 grade point average. Through the winter term, field hockey has a 3.44 GPA.

Five JWU student-athletes received the Division III Scholars of Distinction honor for having a cumulative GPA of 3.80 or higher through the first semester of the 2018-19 academic year. Earning that honor, and all with a 4.00 GPA, was Megan Kramer, Jillian Miele, Sara Parrish, Grace Pendergast and Natalie Rivas. For Pendergast and Rivas, it's their second selection.

The NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2018-19 academic year. A program-best 16 student-athletes were recipients of this award.
