Wildcats Field Hockey Gets Stumped by Simmons 4-2

PROVIDENCE, RI –The Johnson & Wales University field hockey team put up a tough fight in the second half, but couldn't take down Simmons University on Saturday. The Wildcats lost a 4-2 decision to the Sharks.

Of Note:
The Sharks took the lead, scoring in the first 15 minutes when Lily D'Anna found the ball in a scrum in front of the net and knocked it home. They added another 15 minutes later with an unassisted goal from Emily Plummer.

The Wildcats picked up the energy in the second half, breaking through the defense with a goal in the first five minutes. Jillian Miele was served a pass across the goal from Adriana Scala and found the back of the net.

Simmons answered with a pair of goals to put the game out of reach.

The Wildcats last goal was scored off a corner after time expired. Miele served a shot into the box and Heather Lind pushed it past the keeper and across the goal line.

The Sharks outshot the Wildcats, 25-9
