PROVIDENCE, RI – In rainy conditions, visiting Wheaton College jumped to a fast lead they would not relinquish. The Lyons outscored the Johnson & Wales University field hockey team, 4-1 in the first half on their way to a 6-1 victory on Tuesday.

The Lyons got on the scoreboard first with a score in the 12th minute. Michelle Connolly picked up the rebound off the goalkeeper's pads and found the back of the net. Twenty seconds later, Hannah Arkin scored the first of her two goals to put the Lyons up, 2-0.
Johnson & Wales scored its only goal of the game in the 20th minute. Off a penalty corner, sophomore Natalie Rivas scored her second goal of the year to cut the lead in half.
Unfortunately, Wheaton's Liz Helmreich responded with three-straight goals to put the game out of reach.
The Lyons had a 25-15 shot advantage.
The Wildcats return to conference play Saturday at 11 am versus Regis College.
