PAXTON, Mass. – If your opponent can't shoot the ball, they don't have much of a chance to win. The Johnson & Wales University field hockey team limited Anna Maria to just one shot as the Wildcats prevailed 2-0 on Saturday.
Anna Maria: 2-6, 1-2 GNAC
Johnson & Wales: 2-4, 1-2 GNAC
The one shot on goal tied the lowest total by a JWU opponent in program history. The Wildcats limited Rivier to just one shot on September 27, 2014. Wildcat keeper Claire Nolan (West Bridgewater, Mass.) stopped the lone AMCAT shot of the game. JWU had a 13-1 advantage in shots.
Johnson & Wales got an insurance goal in the second half from freshman Rachel DeVore (Beltsville, Md.). The rookie scored the first goal of her collegiate career off the pass from Ciavardoni at the 68:06 mark.
Johnson & Wales is back on the road Tuesday for a 7 p.m. contest at Wheaton.
