IHSA Rides at Roger Williams Show

NEWPORT, R.I. - The toughest competition this season came to a disappointing finish for the Equestrian IHSA team on Saturday as they did not place for the first time this season. Brown University and host Roger Williams tied as team champion for the day with 33 points.

For the Wildcats, captain Erin Lavigne was the highlight as her second place finish in Intermediate on Flat qualified her for the IHSA Zone 1 Region 1 Finals this coming March. Kiara Spadafore was the only other JWU rider to place in the top three of their class with her second place  ride in Limit Flat.

The Wildcats are still in the lead in the regional ranks, six point above Brown while Jennifer DePietro had her lead in the Cacchione Cup standings diminish to a one point advantage.

JWU is back in action on Saturdya when they travel to Leads Ferry, Conn. for the URI Show at Mystic Valley Hunt Club.

Quote from Coach: "Riding is a sport that requires the athlete to focus on what is coming next. The JWU IHSA Team will need to look forward to next Saturday's competition hosted by URI at the Mystic Valley Hunt Club in Leads Ferry, CT." - Head coach Dirk Fogg
