IHSA Takes Home Top Spot At Becker Show

For the second straight competition, all Johnson & Wales riders earned points for the Wildcats as JWU earned the top spot at the Becker College IHSA Show in Paxton, Mass. All 12 of the Zone 1, Region 1 institutions attended this event which is a great barometer for the Wildcats as they continue to push toward a zone regional championship.

Two Wildcats earned blue ribbons helping push JWU into their tie for first place with UMass Dartmouth. First year rider Kiara Spadafor garnered a first place finish in the Class 3 Limit Equitation on Flat while senior captain Erin Lavigne won the Class 6 Intermediate Equitation over Fences division.

Junior captain Jennifer DePietro grabbed second place in Class 8 Open Equitation over Fences. This ride moved DePietro into second place in the season long effort to win the Caccione Cup. Fellow junior Alanna Ryan took home the runner up spot in Class 5 Intermediate Equitation on Flat.

JWU travels to UMass Dartmouth on Saturday, October 26 beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Quote from Coach:

"I was very pleased with the team's efforts at our first away competition for the 2019-2020 season. Having every rider earn points for two competitions in a row is a good start. The captains are doing a great job leading this young team, and everyone is excited for the next 5 weeks of shows! I would like to thank the many families who made the trip to support their riders. Their support is greatly appreciated."
