IHSA Qualifies Two at Assumption Show

NORTH OXFORD, Mass. – Back in the ring for the first time during the spring portion of its schedule, the Johnson & Wales University IHSA equestrian team took part in the Assumption IHSA Show at Four Winds Farm. Two riders punched their ticket for the Region 1 Finals.

In the walk trot competition, sophomore Arrianna Landry placed second to earn her regional bid. Junior Heather Jarvis took fourth in novice on flat to earn her spot in the regional competition.

Picking up the blue ribbon in open on flat was sophomore Jennifer DePietro while senior Hannah Coutu was fifth. DePeitro added a sixth-place finish in open over fences.

Sophomore Cassandra Walker also captured first place with her performance in advanced walk-trot-canter. Coming in sixth was junior Isabella Slaughter.

Senior Caitlyn Walker had a pair of top-three finishes. She tied sophomore Alanna Ryan in intermediate on flat then took third in novice over fences. Erin Lavigne finished a spot of ahead of Walker in novice over fences. Junior Sophia Johnston was also in the top three of two classes, taking second in intermediate over fences and third in intermediate on flat.

JWU returns to competition Sunday for the Region 1 Community Show at the Mystic Valley Hunt Club.
