IHSA Equestrian Competes at UMass Dartmouth Show

TIVERTON, R.I. – The Johnson & Wales University IHSA equestrian team had another good showing over the weekend at the UMass Dartmouth Show at Claddagh Farm. The Wildcats had 13 top-five finishes as part of an eighth-place team finish.

Leading the way was freshman Alanna Ryan (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) as she won the novice on flat event. Alexandra Casola (Naples, Fla.) had a pair of top-three finishes, coming in second in open on flat as well as third in novice over fences.

Three riders placed second in their events. Freshman Jennifer DePietro (Atkinson, NH) took second in intermediate over fences. Sophia Johnston (Berlin, Mass) was runner-up in intermediate on flat and Erin Lavigne (South Herto, Vt.) took second in novice on flat.

Senior Noel Fratto (Toms River, N.J.) came in third in open on flat. Rounding out the top three scorers was Cassandra Walker (Swanzey, N.H.) in advanced walk-trot-canter on flat.

JWU rides again on November 4 at the Salve Regina Show.
