SWANSEA, Mass. - The Johnson & Wales IDA Equestrian team had a great start to their season. The Wildcats won the University of Rhode Island show at Stony Creek Farm, finishing in first place with 15 points.
The Wildcats had a pair of riders finish first in their division. Junior Savannah Hoglan recorded a score of 67.15, while sophomore Mikayla Traver earned a score of 66.87 to claim the blue ribbon. Senior Lindsay Vollinger finished second in First Level with a score of 65.37. Sophomore Kendall Reilly finished secomd in the Intro division with a score of 65.31.
First-year Grace Dolan finished third with 65.31 in the Intro division. Sophomore Claire Decker finished third in First Level with a 62.78 before returning to start in JWU Field Hockey's game against Lasell Saturday afternoon.
Senior Mikayla Mopps also finished third with a 63. Juniors Lois Campbell and Kayla McCurley finished fourth in their divisions with scores of 63.65 and 62.25, respectively.
The JWU IDA Equestrian team will travel to the University of New Hampshire for its next show on Saturday, October 12.
