IDA Equestrian Takes Second URI Spring Show

SWANSEA, Mass. – Back in competition for the first time during the spring, the Johnson & Wales University IDA Equestrian team had a good showing during the URI Spring Show at Stony Creek Farm. The Wildcats finished second as a team.

Bringing home high point rider of the day was Samantha Kondej as she won upper training with a score of 68.793. Teammate Katherine Samkavitz took third in that event at 65.689.

JWU had two riders place during first division. Junior Lindsey Vollinger took second at 63.148 and classmate Maggie Dickey recorded a 55.00 to take sixth.

The Wildcats turned in two more top five finishes. Sophomore Kayla McCurley was third in intro division at 63.125. During lower training, sophomore Savannah Hoglan recorded a 61.532 to place fourth.

The regular season wraps up Saturday when the Wildcats host the JWU Spring Show at the JWU Equine Center in Rehoboth, Mass.
