Wildcats IHSA Take Top Spots on Weekend

The Wildcat IHSA team competed in two competitions this past weekend and earned a first and second place finish, respectively. 

On Saturday at the College of the Holy Cross, Assumption College and Clark University Show, the Wildcats took top spot and had junior Lyndsay Bauer (Westbury, N.Y.) earn Reserve Champion High Point Rider with first place finishes in Intermediate Fences and Intermediate Flat. Sophomore Annie Kononchik (Woolwich, N.J.) qualified for the Region 1 Finals with a first place ribbon in Novice Fences while classmate Maddy Motta (Cranston, R.I.) and freshman Sarah DeLee (Nashua, N.H.) garnered first place finishes in their categories.

On Sunday, JWU placed second at the Johnson & Wales Show in Rehoboth, Mass. DeLee placed first in Intermediate Fences while senior Rebecca Hein (Tranquility, N.J.) earned first in Open Flat and sophomore Kristina Spellman (Bradford, Mass.) topped the Novice Fences category. For the second consecutive day, sophomore Lauren Jones (Southington, Conn.) secured the Wildcats placing with a first place finish in Walk-Trot.

JWU will take part in the Region 1 Horse Show in Glades Ferry, Conn. on March 22nd.
