Mark Cooke has been hired as the new Johnson & Wales University pitching coach and recruiting coordinator for the 2016-17 season. Cooke brings nearly a decade of coaching experience the Wildcat baseball staff and has coached nine players who have gone on to play professionally.
His coaching career started in 2009 as the head coach at Bishop Feehan High School. He helped BFHS win three EAC championship titles and they were ranked in the top 25 in the state four of the six years.
Following his tenure at Bishop Freehan, Cooke became the pitching and recruiting coordinator for two seasons at Dean College. His last year the Bulldogs had the second-lowest ERA in the region.
Cooke currently volunteers each year as the Coastal Head Coach for the prestigious Bay State Games in Massachusetts. He has previously coached at the Wheeler School, Cumberland American Legion and the Pawtucket RBI (Reviving Baseball in in the Inner Cities) program.
Cooke graduated Salve Regina University in 2001 where he played collegiately all four years. Cooke resides in Cumberland, RI with his wife Jessica and his two children, Jacoby and Mia.
