A successful NCAA Division III student-athlete and coach, Connor McDavitt was hired by new head coach Kevin Casey to join the Johnson & Wales University baseball team as an assistant coach.
McDavitt comes to the Wildcats after three seasons on the staff at his alma mater, Tufts University. During his time with the Jumbos, Tufts amassed 85 victories, a 28-8 conference record, three NESCAC East titles, two NESCAC championships and two NCAA tournament appearances.
During practices, McDavitt focused on the Tufts outfielders and hitters while off the field he was responsible for planning team meals, fundraising, organizing camps, maintaining the Tufts baseball alumni website and running all social media accounts. In addition, he helped with recruiting and served as the head coach of the JV baseball program.
The 2014 and 2015 NESCAC Defensive Player of the Year, he also earned a pair of ABCA All-Region selections. Casey served as an assistant coach during McDavitt’s sophomore and junior seasons. McDavitt finished his career in the Tufts’ top 10 for hits, runs and stolen bases.
A native of Holden, Mass., McDavitt got his degree in history from Tufts in 2015
