Wildcats Fall Twice on Spring Break

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C – The Johnson & Wales University baseball team dropped a pair of contests on Wednesday. JWU started the day by falling 11-3 to Christopher Newport then dropped a 13-9 decision to Moravian.

Johnson & Wales: 1-2

Of Note:
The Captains did most of their damage in the third and fourth innings off JWU starter Kyle Cutler. A wild pitch brought in a run in the third then two runs crossed the plate on a throwing error in the fourth.

Retsyn Ootton drove in Raimiel Rodriguez with a single in the third. Rodriguez scored again in the eighth when Eric Lindgebach's throw went wild as he tried to get Armani Henderson at first base. Henderson scored on a wild pitch later in the inning.

Against Moravian, Johnson & Wales got on the board first when Vin Amalfitano scored on Adam Diehl's sacrifice fly.

Starting in the third inning, the Greyhounds took control by scoring in five-straight innings. Moravian tagged JWU starter Ryan Depatie for seven runs, five earned.

The Wildcats pulled within a pair of run in the fifth inning from three-straight RBI hits from Armani Henderson, Bryan Bessler and Gary Peralta.
