PROVIDENCE, RI – More honors are coming in for the Johnson & Wales University baseball team. Junior Colby Greenhalgh and senior Adam Diehl were tabbed for the American Baseball Coaches Association New England All-Region teams.
A First-Team selection this year, it's the second year in a row Greenhalgh has earned recognition from the ABCA. Last season he was a Third-Team honoree. Diehl earned a spot on the Third-Team All-New England team. Both are now eligible for All-America consideration.
A native of Plainfield, Conn. Greenhalgh was a First-Team All-GNAC selection at designated hitter. A three-time GNAC Player of the Week, he led the GNAC in runs while finishing second in slugging percentage, third for on-base percentage and fifth for batting average. Named a D3baseball.com All-Region selection as well, was picked for the GNAC All-Tournament team after hitting over .500 for the six-game postseason.
Injuries limited Diehl last season, but with a clean bill of health, he was a big contributor. He placed fifth in the GNAC with a .398 batting average and led the way with a .504 on-base percentage. The Cypress, Texas native was also sixth in RBIs and ninth in doubles. He hit over .450 during the postseason to work his way onto the All-Tournament team.
Head coach Kevin Casey should have another strong squad in 2020 as he only loses five seniors off this year's team.
