PROVIDENCE, RI – All season long, Johnson & Wales University baseball players Colby Greenhalgh and Joe Maracic were two of the top hitters in the region. This made them natural All-New England selections by D3baseball.com.
Greenhalgh was the Second-Team All-Region designated hitter while Maracic was a Third-Team All-Region infielder. Both are now eligible for All-America consideration. JWU was one of only three GNAC programs with a representative and the only one with two or more.
A native of Plainfield, Conn. Greenhalgh was a First-Team All-GNAC selection at DH. A three-time GNAC Player of the Week, he led the GNAC in runs while finishing second in slugging percentage, third for on-base percentage and fifth for batting average. An ABCA All-Region selection in 2018, he was named to the GNAC All-Tournament team after hitting over .500 for the six-game postseason.
Maracic picked up his first All-GNAC award as well as his first All-Region selection The Syosset, NY native was Second-Team All-GNAC infielder. Tabbed GNAC Player of the Week on April 1, he was 11th with a .358 batting average his .449 slugging percentage was 12th. He's in the league's top 10 for hits, RBIs and walks.
Head coach Kevin Casey should have another strong squad in 2020 as he only loses five seniors off this year's team.
