PROVIDENCE, RI – The Johnson & Wales University baseball team couldn't overcome a series of miscues against Salve Regina University on Wednesday. The Seahawks defeated the Wildcats, 13-3

Johnson & Wales: 17-8
Adam Diehl (JWU): 2-3, 1 R, 1 RBI
Madden Ward (SRU) 3-5, 4 R, 2 RBI
Johnson & Wales got on the board in the second inning when Adam Diehl's ground ball ricocheted off SRU pitcher Zach Lopez's leg and into the right field. That allowed Aidan Hagarty to score from second.
Salve Regina took the lead in the third on sacrifice flies from Zack Smith and Tristan Dacey. The Seahawks upped their lead to 4-1 thanks to two runs in the sixth. Colton Eremian roped a double to right field that scored Michael DeFusco.
JWU got those two runs back in their half of the sixth. Armani Henderson singled through the right side to plate Diehl. Henderson would later score on a balk.
Errors by the hosts allowed Salve Regina to break the game open with four runs in the top of the seventh. Smith had another sacrifice fly and Zack Barlock added an RBI single to cap the scoring.
Michael Matthews worked a pair of scoreless innings in relief to get the victory.
JWU's Ryan Depatie was saddled with the loss as he gave up four runs on six hits with four strikeouts.
Johnson & Wales is on the road Thursday to take on crosstown rival Rhode Island College at 3:30 p.m.
