WINTHROP, Mass. – The top of the Johnson & Wales University baseball line up may be the best in the league as well as one of the top one-two punches in New England. A week after Colby Greenhalgh was recognized by the conference, Joe Maracic was tabbed GNAC Player of the Week.
It's the second GNAC weekly award in the Syosset, NY native's career. He was named Rookie of the Week on March 6, 2017. Suffolk's Worth Walrod was named Pitcher of the Week and Corey Cochran from Rivier picked up Rookie of the Week.
During four games, including two conference contests, Maracic hit .667 with a .867 slugging percentage. Three of his 10 hits went for extra bases to go along with nine runs and 10 RBIs. He helped lead JWU to a crucial doubleheader sweep over GNAC rival Saint Joseph's of Maine, going 4-for-5 with four runs and four RBIs in game one. He also had a pair of three-hit, three-RBI performances against Salem State and Wentworth.
JWU is back at home on Wednesday to face Wesleyan at 4 pm.
