Thomas '12 Still Garnering Honors

Thomas '12 Still Garnering Honors

Another year has passed and the legend of Lamonte Thomas continues to thrive within the walls of the Wildcat Center. 3,604 days since he carried the Wildcats to the GNAC Championship game by way of a historic 40 point, 20 assist semifinal win over rival Albertus Magnus, Thomas was named to the All-Decade team Tuesday.

Thomas, a JWU and GNAC Hall of Famer, is fourth in NCAA Division III history and GNAC all-time leader with 2,740 points. As a senior in 2012, he averaged 34.1 points per game, which was good for the eighth-best total in NCAA history.

He topped the NCAA in scoring his final two seasons as a junior and senior, as the two-time All-American (2011-12) was also crowned the 2011 GNAC Player of the Year. His career accolades include twice being named All-Northeast Region and three times being named All-GNAC First Team.

Since graduating from JWU in 2012, Thomas has been playing professionally overseas while becoming a published author and a lead figure in the yearly "Play for Peace Tour". The guard is the Wildcats all-time leader across nine different categories and was tabbed as one of five on the JWU men's basketball all-decade team announced last week.
