This Week in Johnson & Wales University athletics history highlights the 2018 women's lacrosse team. The Wildcats put on a dominating performance, winning four games in a seven-day span. Three of the matches were against conference foes and an average point differential of 16. The week was capped with a masterful victory in the quarterfinals of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference playoffs. JWU defeated Rivier University, 21-2, with six goals from Alison Pazienski '19 and four from Maria Patane '20.
This week in 2012, the Johnson & Wales University softball team was in the midst of a serious run at the conference title. The stretch run featured an eight-game winning streak leading up to the first round of the GNAC playoffs. During that run, the Wildcats scored a big conference victory on the road at Emmanuel College. The eight-inning nail biter featured three RBIs from Tayla Gardner '14 with one swing of the bat as well as two RBIs from Alyssa Babineau '14. Taylor Cwalinski '14 went all eight innings, striking out 13 and securing the 7-6 final for JWU.
The Johnson & Wales baseball team started a magical run this week in April 2015. Going into the double-elimination playoffs after a loss to Salve Regina and a 17-12 record, the Wildcats dropped a tough 7-5 game to Suffolk in the opening round of the GNAC playoffs. JWU would then put together a three-game winning streak, defeating Lasell in the elimination game, Saint Joseph's (Maine) in the semis and then a 7-3 win over Suffolk in the first game of the GNAC championship. Led by Ryan Cabral '17, Lou Umberto '17 and Carlos Sanabria '17, JWU would ultimately succumb to Suffolk, 4-3, in a thrilling 13-inning finale.
