Johnson & Wales Adds Rifle Team to Portfolio of Club Sports

PROVIDENCE, RI -- Johnson & Wales University Associate Dean of Students and Executive Director of Athletics Mel Graf announced the addition of the JWU Club Rifle team as the newest club sport at the Providence campus.

The only school in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference with a rifle team, the Wildcats will start competition during the 2019-20 school year. Rifle is a co-ed sport and JWU hopes to start with a roster of 10 student-athletes and grow the program, including any potential conference affiliation in the future.

Rifle has been sanctioned as an NCAA sport since 1980 and holds an individual as well as a team component for competition. Following the NCAA model, the JWU Rifle team will participate in 10m and 50m events with the use of .22 caliber single shot rifles.

Anyone interested in joining the rifle team should contact Scott Reslow (JWU Rifle Club Adviser) at scott.reslow@jwu.edu or Dan Willis (JWU Rifle Club President) at DWillis02@wildcats.jwu.edu
