WINTHROP, Mass. – A successful competitive year was matched academically by the Johnson & Wales University athletics department. The Wildcats placed 123 student-athletes on the GNAC Academic All-Conference team released on Thursday.
In order to be eligible for the league's academic all-conference squad, a student must have a 3.25 cumulative grade point average and have reached second-year academic status.
The 123 recipients are the most Johnson & Wales has produced – also the highest by a GNAC school since 2013-14 - and was tops in the league. In 2015-16, the Wildcats had 103 representatives.
For the second year in a row, the softball team led the way with 14 academic all-conference members. Men's lacrosse was next with 12 and women's volleyball produced 10 selections.
