PROVIDENCE, RI – A winter highlight for the Johnson & Wales University and Providence communities, the Wildcats' annual hockey games at the Dunkin' Donuts Center have been set for 2017. The JWU men's and women's teams will take to the ice in downtown Providence on Thursday, January 19.
The day begins with Maria Lewis' women's program taking on SUNY Canton at 4 p.m. The men's squad, under the direction of first-year head coach James LaCour, follow with Suffolk at 7 p.m.
For the men's team this will be the fourth year that they've played at the Dunk. The Wildcats are 2-1 at the home of the Providence Bruins after beating Curry 5-2 last season. In its inaugural season, the women's program defeated Salem State, 2-1.
The event is free for JWU students with a valid ID. Tickets for staff, faculty and the public are $8. Tickets will be available during the Winter Term at the athletic department offices in the Wildcat Center, the student involvement and leadership office at the CBCSI and online at Ticketmaster through the Providence Bruins. JWU students must bring their ID in order to pick up their ticket.
The men's program opens its season on Friday, October 28 when it plays host to Worcester State at 5:55 p.m. at Lynch Arena in Pawtucket. The women are on the road to start the year at Post University on October 29.
