Catherine Bravo Named RIAIAW Athlete of the Year
Senior women’s volleyball standout Catherine Bravo (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico) was selected as the school’s choice for the Rhode Island Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women in a ceremony held at the Community College of Rhode Island this evening. It marks the second straight season that Bravo has been tabbed for this award.
A three-time All-Great Northeast Athletic Conference selection and two-time GNAC Player of the Year, she helped lead the 2010 Wildcats to the GNAC Championship and a bid to the NCAA Division III Championship. During her senior season, she led the team with 2.8 kills per set and a .260 hitting percentage. She also added 2.4 digs per set and 3.4 set assists per set for the Wildcats.
After just three short seasons, she leaves JWU ranked in the top-10 in nearly every category, ranking third in kills, seventh in digs, eighth in blocks, eighth in set assists and 10th in service aces.
