Bravo Named 2010 RIAIAW Athlete of the Year
Providence, R.I. -- Johnson & Wales University junior women’s volleyball standout Catherine Bravo (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico) was selected as the school’s choice for the Rhode Island Association of Athletics for Women in a ceremony held at URI earlier this month.
After playing just two seasons for Johnson & Wales, she already ranks fifth on the school’s all-time kills list with 837 during her illustrious career while her 3.27 kills per game ranks her third on the school’s all-time list. She also ranks ninth in career digs with 794 in just 74 matches played. The 2008 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the Year, she also earned All-GNAC honors in 2009. This past season, she led the team and ranked fourth in the conference in kills per game at 3.22 while her .288 hitting percentage was fifth in the league. She helped lead the Wildcats to the championship game of the 2009 GNAC Playoffs while the team earned a bid to the ECAC Championship. She also earned All-New England accolades for the second straight season.
