Women's Tennis Falls To Simmons, 7-2 In GNAC Playoffs

The No. 5 seeded women's tennis team was defeated by No. 1 seed Simmons, 7-2 in the semifinals of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship on the road on Saturday.

Simmons took all three doubles matches to take the commanding 3-0 lead heading into the six singles contests.   The Sharks then took four of the six singles spots en route to the 7-2 victory.

Johnson & Wales took the win at No. 2 singles from freshman Stephanie Roberti (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) while junior Laura Schwenk (Ottumwa, Iowa) had a victory at No. 5 singles for the Wildcats.

With the loss JWU wraps up the 2010 campaign with a 7-8 overall record.
