PROVIDENCE, RI – Last season ended for the Johnson & Wales University women's soccer team with a defeat in the finals of the GNAC Tournament. Going into his fourth season, head coach Chris Flint has put together a schedule that he hopes will get the Wildcats over the hump and back into the NCAA Tournament.
This year's schedule features three teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament, starting with Brandeis on September 8 followed by Connecticut College at home two days later. The GNAC Championship rematch is set for September 15 at Lasell.
Colby Sawyer College joins the GNAC this year after finishing as the NAC regular season champion. The Wildcats host the Chargers on October 3. Eastern Connecticut State won the Little East regular season and will host JWU on September 17.
The season starts August 31 with Johnson & Wales hosting UMass Boston at 6 p.m. The Wildcats then welcome Wheaton – who took second in the NEWMAC – on September 4 at 7 p.m.
In addition, coach Flint announced his 2018 team captains. Leading the Wildcats will be seniors Kali Trunca, Deja Hursey and Christina Schneider. Trunca, the GNAC Defensive Player of the Year, and Hursey earned All-New England honors in 2017.
