WINTHROP, Mass. – Johnson & Wales University women's soccer player Olivia Cairrao has established herself as one of the top rookie goal scorers in the country. She tallied four more goals last week on her way to earning GNAC Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office.
It's the third time in five weeks that Cairrao (Bristol, R.I.) has been named Rookie of the Week. Suffolk's Julia Fieldsend and Alexandra Nagri were named Goalkeeper and Player of the Week, respectively.
Cairrao tallied nine points with four goals and an assist. She scored twice in conference games against Rivier and Mount Ida to up her league-leading total to 14 goals. Cairrao ranks 10th in the country, second amongst freshmen, in goals scored. The rookie also added an assist against the Raiders for a five-point game and registered the first penalty kick of her career.
Johnson & Wales travels to Regis on Wednesday for a 6:30 p.m. contest.
