The Johnson & Wales University women's rowing team took to the water one last time on Saturday at the New England Rowing Championships. The event was competed on Lake Quinsigamond.
The Varsity 8 crossed the 2000-meter finish line with a time of 7:01.11 to take fifth in the heat. With coxswain Sarah Healy and stroke Jaym Henderson, the Wildcats took a whole minute off their time at last year's championship to narrowly beat out Mt. Holyoke in the finals to finish third.
During prelims, the Second Varsity 8 posted a time of 8:07.84 under the guidance of coxswain Tatiana Windley and stroke Sarah Eggert. Unfortunately, the boat had to scratch from the finals due to injury.
Johnson & Wales will continue to build during the 2018-19 season as Coach McLean only loses six seniors, including two from the Varsity 8, as the program goes into its fourth season of existence.
