Rowing Starts 2017-18 Season at Head of the Riverfront


HARTFORD, Conn. – Strong storms delayed the start of the season for the Johnson & Wales University women's rowing team, but the Wildcats got their oars in the water on Sunday. The Wildcats took part in the Head of the Riverfront regatta, held on the Connecticut River.

Lead by coxswain Tatiana Windley (Bronx, N.Y.) and stroke Amber White (Woodbridge, Va.), the Varsity 8 posted a time of 18:02.20. The Wildcats were edged out by Division I foe Sacred Heart.

The Novice 8 boat recorded a time of 24:29.87 to take fifth. Sarah Healy (Bristol, R.I.) provided the coxswain duties while Nicole Gerber (East Greenbrush, N.Y.) was the stroke. Jessica Tilley (Nutley, N.J.) was the coxswain and White the stroke for the Varsity 4 boat that placed 20th in a time of 23:25.22.

Up next is the Head of Snake regatta on October 14 in Worcester.
