Rowing Wraps up Season at New England Championships

WORCESTER, Mass. – The second season for the Johnson & Wales University rowing team came to a conclusion on Saturday. The Wildcats had a good showing at the prestigious New England Rowing Championships held on Lake Quinsigamond.

Guided by coxswain Elizabeth Conover-Prentiss (Belmont, Mass.) and stroke Jaym Henderson (Woodstock, Vt.), the Wildcats posted a time of 8:05.43 in the prelims of the Varsity Eight competition. The Second Varsity Eight with coxswain Elise Bray (DeLancey, NY) and stroke Bronique Smith (Freeport, Bahamas) crossed the line in 9:50.10 in the prelims.

The Novice Four posted a sixth-place finish in its race. Led by stroke Tatiana Windley (Bronx, NY) and stroke Izsaiah Amado (Tauton, Mass.), the Wildcats crossed the line in 11:17.21.

With much of the Varsity Eight boat back for next season, head coach William McLean should continue to move the program forward in 2017-18.
