WORCESTER, MA – The Johnson & Wales University women's rowing team competed for the first time in the region during the spring season and had a great performance. The Wildcats cut more than 20 seconds off their last race at the Clark University regatta on Sunday.
Racing at 2,000 meters on choppy Lake Quinsigamond, Johnson & Wales produced a time of 7:40.70 during the Varsity Eight competition to finish just behind the host Cougars. Elizabeth Conover-Prentiss (Belmont, Mass.) served as the coxswain and Jaym Henderson (Woodstock, Vt.) was the stroke.
The second Varsity Eight team came across the line with a time of 8:41.6. Rookie Natailia Colom (Austin, Texas) was the coxswain while Jillian Sartucci (South Weymouth, Mass.) handled the stroke duties.
Johnson & Wales is back at Lake Quinsigamond on Saturday for the Assumption Invitational.
