Wrestling Sweeps Quad Match
The wrestling team swept a quad match with Springfield Technical C.C., Norwich and Southern Maine at the Harborside Recreation Center on Sunday afternoon.
In the first two matches of the afternoon, host JWU posted a commanding 38-3 win over Springfield Technical C.C. while Southern Maine had a 37-9 win over Norwich. The Wildcats then had a 39-0 shut out win over Norwich while Southern Maine improved to 2-0 on the day with a 33-24 victory against Springfield Tech. In the final matches of the day, JWU tallied a 28-14 Pilgrim League victory against Southern Maine while Springfield Tech wrapped up their day with a 25-24 win against Norwich.
Johnson & Wales was led by freshman Frank Marotti (Fairfield, N.J.) who recorded two major decisions and one win via pin fall on the afternoon. Junior Blake McNulty (Framingham, Mass.) had three wins, including a pair via technical falls while junior Connor Nelson (Wakefield, R.I.) also had three wins with a pair of pin falls for the Wildcats.
Freshman Zachary Dipini (Franklin, N.J.) notched three victories on the day for Southern Maine while junior Peter Gilman (Alfred, Maine) also had three wins, including two via pin fall, for the Huskies.
Simeone Everett paced Springfield Tech with three victories while Anthony Pimental had a pair of wins on the day.
Norwich was led by sophomore Samuel Kent (Keene, N.H.) who had two wins for the Cadets.
With the three wins Johnson & Wales is now 10-2 in dual matches for the season and a perfect 3-0 in the Pilgrim League. The Wildcats will return to action on Sunday, January 22nd when they travel to Springfield for the New England Wrestling Association Duals.
